Am I Awake?

Post by milkshades » Thu May 01, 2014 7:37 pm

haven't worked on anything in a few years, but this was my first step towards starting to animate again.
It was for a contest. I didn't even finish the video before the deadline, but I submitted what I had anyway.
anyway here it is.

Still not sure if I'm going to finish it.... I kind of just want to move on... I don't know, what do you think?

That was odd and interesting. I like the idea of all of those different "layers" of reality within it. Also him sticking that key in the eye-socket of the locker makes me think of something I'd see in a David Cronenberg film. (specifically Videodrome, have you ever seen that?)

I was working on an animation for this contest, myself. It's cool to see something completely different from what I had in mind. I made a storyboard but lacked the motivation to fully complete it. Here's what I finished - http://puu.sh/8vy4W/9607948242.swf (mind the really sloppy storyboard art) and character designs.

I kinda wanna finish mine, but I know I won't.

I really like your art style. I love borderless look.
and you're very good with the facial expressions and subtly movements.
I really like where you were going with it.

I don't remember seeing videodrome specificly but I've seen plenty Cronenberg films. I love weird surreal feeling stuff.
you can tell what mine was kind of rushed towards the end. plus there was a lot more frame by frame in this than I had the time for... I wish we had a year to work on it....

really well-done.

you have great talent milk, and you should really start animating for SG again.
we missed you.

also: fire's art is EXCELLENT. he also has skills. thats why im always angry at him for not making SG flash. :(

I feel really bad that I never helped Fire out with his like I wanted... Both of you did a great job on it thus far. I hope you guys finish it, because I'm excited to see the finished product!

here's a genuine request:

to both milk and fire-shades, you guys should finish your ''am i awake'' projects, because they both look good and promising.

however, for the time being, if you get free time, you should at least post/do a short SG flash/take part in our SG collab.

I want to do everything ever. finish this animation, start another, work on colabs... lots of things to do but only so much time. This will probably sit on the back burner for awhile, but im up for helping in the colab area and moving on to something else.

I appreciate the encouraging words though :)
